The University of Hohenheim is an innovative and research-intensive university in the south of Stuttgart with students from around 100 nations. Generously equipped research facilities, a baroque castle and extensive parks characterise the campus. Modern teaching and cutting-edge research are combined in innovative subjects in the natural sciences, agricultural sciences and economics and social sciences.
The Institute of Biology, Department of Biochemistry at the University of Hohenheim is looking for a person to start on August 1st, 2025
The Department of Biochemistry investigates the molecular mechanisms of signal transduction and cellular transport of membrane proteins. We use photoreceptors in the compound eye of the fruit fly Drosophila as a model system for our research. In addition to the components of signal reception and signal transmission, we are interested in TRP ion channels that generate the receptor potential.
Your tasks will include working on a research project on the cellular transport of photoreceptor proteins. In the medium term, you should develop an independent research profile. In teaching, you will participate in modules offered by our department in the bachelor's degree courses in biology and agricultural biology, in the master's degree course in biology and food biotechnology, and in doctoral programs. The scope of teaching is 4 hours per week.
